VDG Motors EV (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the website vdmotors.in and the VDM EV mobile application (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect and use it. By accessing or using our Service you agree to this Policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account & Registration Data
- Full name, email address, mobile number — collected when you create an account, place an order, or submit an enquiry form.
- Delivery address(es) — collected at checkout and saved to your profile for future orders.
- Password — stored as a one-way bcrypt hash; we cannot read it in plain text.
Order & Transaction Data
- Products ordered, quantities, prices, payment method, and order status.
- Payment processing is handled by Razorpay. We do not store your card or bank details — only the Razorpay Order ID and Payment ID confirming a successful transaction.
- Pre-booking details (vehicle model, booking amount, and expected delivery date).
- GST-related billing information required under Indian law.
Location Data
- If you use the “Find Nearest Dealer” or “Store Locator” feature, your browser requests your GPS co-ordinates. This data is used only to calculate the distance to nearby dealers and is not stored on our servers.
- For delivery charge calculation we use the pincode you enter at checkout — not GPS.
Technical & Usage Data
- IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and timestamps — collected via server logs for security monitoring and performance improvement.
- Session cookies to keep you logged in and maintain your shopping cart.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Order fulfilment — processing purchases, arranging delivery, generating GST invoices.
- Account management — login, warranty registration, order history, and service tracking.
- Customer communications — order confirmations, dispatch alerts, delivery updates, test-ride confirmations, and service reminders sent via email or WhatsApp.
- Sales follow-up — our sales team may contact leads who have submitted an enquiry by phone, WhatsApp, or email.
- Legal compliance — maintaining records required under the GST Act, Consumer Protection Act, and other applicable Indian laws.
3. WhatsApp Business Messaging
We use the WhatsApp Business Cloud API (provided by Meta Platforms, Inc.) to send transactional and service-related messages to customers and business enquirers. By providing your WhatsApp-enabled mobile number to us, you consent to receive messages through this channel.
- Order placement confirmations and payment receipts.
- Order dispatch and delivery status updates.
- Test-ride booking confirmations and reminders.
- Warranty registration acknowledgements and claim updates.
- Lead follow-up messages from an assigned sales manager.
- Bulk informational messages for promotional offers — sent only to opted-in contacts.

4. Data Retention
- Order and invoice data is retained for a minimum of 7 years as required under the GST Act.
- WhatsApp message logs: 90 days.
- Lead enquiry data: retained for a maximum of 3 years.
5. Your Rights
You may request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data by contacting privacy@vdmotors.in. We will respond within 30 days.
